Tia tests out her Fast Balls while chasing after a very fast Pokemon.
Tia shivered violently, and her teeth chattered as she ran along the icy ground. A shiny, magenta-colored Quilava ran alongside her, flames ignited.
“Almost… there…” Tia panted, trying to catch up with the Pokemon running away from them at breakneck speed. Just a little more, and she could finally get close enough to catch the Santa Claus look-alike Delibird.
“Summer, use Flame Wheel!”
Summer’s flames intensified, and she began to roll across the ground, gaining speed… but she wasn’t fast enough. The ring of fire formed by the Flame Wheel just barely missed the fleeing Delibird.
Tia shook her head. “All right, plan B! Summer, use Swift!”
Multicolored stars shot out of Summer’s mouth and sped toward the Delibird. The stars hit the Delibird in the back, causing it to stumble but not fall.
Tia nodded. That should have slowed the Delibird down at least a little. She pulled out a Fast Ball and expanded it. She didn’t notice when the rough ground gradually turned to ice.
“All right…” Tia gripped the Fast Ball and threw it. “Go, Fast Ball – whoa!” She promptly slipped on the ice and landed flat on her back.
The ball went wide, ricocheted off of a stalactite, bounced against a rock, slid neatly along the ice, and tripped the fleeing Delibird. It then bounced against another rock and lightly tapped the Delibird on the head, making it disappear inside.
Tia got up carefully as the Fast Ball wobbled once, twice, a third time…
Please, please, please work…
The Ball clicked closed.
“Yes!” Tia shouted, jumping into the air… only to slip on the ice again. “OW!”
Some time later, Tia finally managed to set up her research station – away from the ice like a sensible person. A roaring fire burned nearby, with Summer warming herself near the flames.
Tia plugged in the Fast Ball and waited for the capture data to appear.
Delibird
Level 30
Gender: Female
Likelihood to Flee: High
Capture Rate: 3.8
Tia smiled. A good run. Though it’d be better for repeatability purposes if she’d caught more than one Delibird… but considering the circumstances, she was glad she managed one.
She stood up and stretched, then shivered. Soon she would finally be out of this ice cave and be someplace warmer.
