Tia and Shun trade Pokemon and letters across time.
Tell me a little about yourself. How old are you? Are you on a training journey? I’m 22, and I’m on a research trip. People think I’m a traveling Trainer, but no – I’m doing research for my dissertation on Poke Ball functionality. Take care of Larvitar! – Tia
Hello, Tia. I’m 19, and yes, I’m on a training journey. I started quite late, as you can see. I decided to go to school first, but once I finished, I decided to travel to find myself. It’s nice that you know exactly what you want to do in life. Take care of Skye! – Shun
Hi, Shun! I’d like to know, where do you call home? My hometown is Vermilion City, in Kanto. I used to live in Hoenn, in Mossdeep City, when I was little, but we moved to Kanto when I was 12. My parents are both Poke Ball developers, working for Silph. Take care of Murkrow! – Tia
Hello, Tia. I live in Blackthorn City, in Johto. There’s a long tradition of Dragon-type users living there, but I decided to buck the trend – I train Dark-types instead! It’s interesting that you’re following in your parents footsteps with your Poke Ball research. Take care of Lilac! – Shun
Dear Shun,
What were your dreams as a kid? When I lived in Mossdeep, I would watch the rockets launch every week, and dream about going to space. Later on, I decided I wanted to develop Poke Balls, and eventually make a Poke Ball that would catch any Pokemon, anywhere, even in space. Well, part of that dream eventually came true, though I wasn’t part of it. Ever heard of the Master Ball? It catches any Pokemon without fail, but interestingly enough, it doesn’t work in space. So the old dream is still alive for me! Someday, I’ll develop a Poke Ball that can be used in space, and in other extreme environments. My dissertation comes first, though!
Hope to hear from you again soon. Take care of Houndour!
Tia
Dear Tia,
The Master Ball, huh? I heard rumors that Team Rocket invaded Silph ten years ago because they wanted the plans for a Poke Ball that would work without fail. Guess the Master Ball proves the rumors were true. My dream as a kid was pretty standard – I wanted to be a Trainer and be the best Pokemon Master ever. But I never really had the drive to actually go do it. It also didn’t help that my parents were (and still are!) traditionalists, and would have made me stay home and go to school regardless of what I wanted. They’re still not over me deciding to train Dark-type Pokemon instead of Dragons. Someday, I’d like to start a Dark-type Gym – doesn’t matter where it is, in Kanto, or Johto, or anywhere else.
Looking forward to your next letter. Take care of Overcharge!
Shun
Dear Tia,
When you mentioned living in Hoenn as a kid, it got me thinking: Do you know anything about a Team Magma and a Team Aqua, and the Pokemon Groudon and Kyogre? There was a rumor (yes, again) that about ten years ago, those two groups gained control of Groudon and Kyogre and caused them to fight each other, and almost caused the end of the world as we knew it. Then, the Pokemon Rayquaza came and calmed them down. I heard that the person who summoned Rayquaza was a kid! We both were kids when this happened too, and I can’t imagine having the guts to do something like that! What are your thoughts?
Sorry about the rumor-mongering. I didn’t think it’d take up the entire letter! Take care of Nobunaga!
Shun
Dear Shun,
I remember a little bit about that time – the endless rain, and the constant heat. I didn’t know much at the time, except that people around us were saying that the world was ending. When it showed Groudon and Kyogre and Rayquaza on TV, it seemed so unreal, like I was living in a sci-fi movie. I don’t remember much about the kid, except that he or she became the Pokemon League Champion not long after everything happened. Come to think of it, the whole incident might be part of why we moved to Kanto in the first place. To live someplace safer, I guess.
You can talk about rumors as much as you like, I don’t mind! It’s pretty interesting stuff. Take care of Sneasel!
Tia
Dear Tia,
I’m dying to know – what do you look like?
Shun
Dear Shun,
I’ll send you a picture next time.
