So it's now the middle of December, and I'm currently elbows-deep into several personal projects I came up with to pass the time!
I've started a full rewatch of the Sailor Moon 90s anime, but with a twist - I'm watching the Viz English dub for the first time, while at the same time recording it all onto VHS tapes! I've been fascinated with VHS tapes for the past month and still have a working VCR, and since my ADHD prevents me from just sitting down and watching something without doing like 5 other things at the same time, I watch the show while the VCR is recording! It's a technical challenge as well as an artistic one, since I'm also designing covers and labels for each tape. And I'm really enjoying myself. It's a very long show (200 TV episodes, 3 movies, and a handful of specials) and it'll take a long time to record it all (58 VHS tapes) but I'm sure I'll enjoy the whole experience!
I'm also continuing a project I started a few months ago - making mixtapes on audio cassettes! I managed to acquire a handful of Type II and Type IV cassettes (much higher sound quality than normal Type I cassettes) from a Japanese auction earlier this year, with some very interesting contents - concerts, radio broadcasts, and an anime mixtape! I'm currently digitizing the contents and plan to upload them on the Internet Archive for posterity, then use the tapes to record my own mixtapes. I can't wait to hear how good they'll sound! I also have about 50 custom blank Type I cassettes I'll be putting music on eventually.
I've gotten into playing text-based roleplaying games lately, ever since I finished writing my last fanfic. I want to keep creating characters, but ran out of story ideas, so I turned to playing MUSH games to keep my writing skills sharp and gain inspiration! I'm currently playing 3 games - 2 based on Dragonriders of Pern, and 1 with an original setting. It's been great so far!
How are all of you keeping busy this winter?
